Other project and fundraising initiatives:
Charitable Registration – A letter was forwarded to NNEC notifying us that the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency has received our application to register NNEC as a Charity.
Sacred Space furnishing – the DFCHS Woodworking Class has agreed to build the altar and lectern as one of their projects.
· Currently working with Susan Barclay to achieve this.
· Stewart Woodworking provided a quote and is willing to construct the cabinets and benches for the Sacred Space. D
inner and Auction – Area businesses donated and NNEC raised approximately $3,000 for the outdoor hockey rink and additional funds raised went to the Den.
Barbecues: Summer students organized the barbecues and generated approximately $2,500 for the outdoor hockey rink.
Working with John Dudley, Post Secondary Manager, to determine how we can draw on funds available through HRDC. HRDC currently has funds for a two year in school training program for E.I. participants and ‘reachback’ clients.
The Den Interim Committee - The Special Projects Coordinator was assigned to the Den Interim Committee to ensure the Dn meets the needs of the Pelican Falls students and provides an opportunity for youth to build entrepreneurial skills.
Auction – a different approach is being planned for November of this year.
Donations:
Home Depot – plants for landscaping the Monument and Memorial Garden site. The Home Depot has offered to provide additional perennials and plant in the spring/early summer.
Wasaya Air– Monument and Memorial Garden sign delivery
Sioux Lookout Businesses: Almost every business in Sioux Lookout has donated to various fundraising efforts.
